This is an excellent book for someone who wants to learn to play the clarinet one their own. I ordered the Clarinet Fingering Chart along with it but the fingering chart included in the book is much easier to use.

Purchased Essential Elements for Band, Books 1 & 2, and Essential Techniques for Band, Book 3 by Hal Leonard along with a first Clarinet for my 11 year old granddaughter. Also purchased a second set for myself since i haven't played my Clarinet since 1957 in HS, and i want to see what she's learning. Surprised me, when her Father, (my son), was the first to use the books to assemble her Clarinet and played some basic notes without having any prior musical instrument experience. For me, at 73, it's a good refresher and I certainly need all the basics before I can progress to Hal Leonard's Clarinet Books "Songs of the 40's Songs of the 50"s, & Songs of the 60's".

Shoes in the picture that the cd and DVD come with the book but nope it doesn't. Instead it has 2 options on a card inside the book: 1. Instant stream/download 2. Get a free cd-rom in the mail or order online at [...]
Not sure how long it will take for the cd-rom to arrive in the mail though.
Other than that it's seems ok I guess. I am a piano player (I understand this is a Clarinet book), read music and play by ear person for 27 yrs.

She is a consultant with the Southwest Ambulance paramedic program in Mesa, Arizona, and an active member of the Pursley, Texas, Volunteer Fire Department.

About the Author

Dr. Bricker's work in early intervention approaches has been summarized in two volumes: An Activity-Based Approach to Early Intervention, Fourth Edition (with J. Johnson & N. Rahn; Paul H. Brookes Publishing Co., 2015) and An Activity-Based Approach to Developing Young Children�€™s Social Emotional Competence (with J. Squires; Paul H. Brookes Publishing Co., 2007). Her work in curricula-based assessment/evaluation has focused on the development of the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System for Infants and Children, Second Edition (AEPS�; with B. Capt, K. Pretti- Frontczak, J. Johnson, K. Slentz, E. Straka, & M Waddell; Paul H. Brookes Publishing Co., 2004). This measure and curricula provides intervention personnel with a system for the comprehensive assessment of young children with results that link directly to curricular content and subsequent evaluation of child progress.

Dr. Bricker has been a primary author of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires� (ASQ; with J. Squires; Paul H. Brookes Publishing Co., 1995, 1999, 2009) and directed research activities on the ASQ system starting in 1980. Developmental Screening in Your Community: An Integrated Approach for Connecting Children with Services (Bricker, Macy, Squires, & Marks; Paul H. Brookes Publishing Co., 2013) offers a comprehensive system for creating and operating community-wide developmental-behavioral screening programs for young children.

Dr. Bricker's distinctions include the Division of Early Childhood, Council for Exceptional Children Service to the Field Award, December 1992, and the Peabody College Distinguished Alumna Award, May 1995.

Betty Capt, Ph.D., OTR, helped develop the second edition of the AEPS as a Research Associate in the Early Intervention Program at the University of Oregon. She taught graduate-level coursework in early intervention and provided professional development seminars and workshops nationwide on best practices in assessment and intervention. She also worked as an occupational therapist and has provided services in early intervention for more than 30 years.

JoAnn (JJ) Johnson, Ph.D., is associate professor in the Child and Family Studies Department in the School of Education at Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota. Previously, she worked at University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in Louisiana, Oregon, and Nevada, serving as a center-based coordinator and teacher for young children ages 2–5, as a Graduate Teaching Fellow and home services coordinator, and as an adjunct faculty member, grant and contract director, project administrator, and service provider. She was also Director of the Research and Educational Planning Center and the Nevada University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities from 2001 to 2008.

Her professional experiences in disabilities services and studies include hospital-, home-, and center-based early intervention and developmental services; developmental assessment and evaluation; supervision and program coordination; and university and outreach training and instruction. Since the 1990s, Dr. Johnson has worked with both federal and numerous state departments of education and provided workshops and training throughout the United States and internationally on the use of the AEPS and activity-based intervention for families and professionals. In her spare time, Dr. Johnson likes to read, work on home projects, and observe young children�€™s development.

As the president of B2K Solutions, Ltd., Dr. Pretti-Frontczak extends her expertise in the preparation of personnel to a global market with the aim of improving the implementation of effective practices and services by those who work with young children with diverse abilities. She is a gifted speaker, strong applied researcher, and is known for creating solutions to complex problems. She has presented to diverse audiences in countries such as Singapore and Australia as well as to early education providers in virtually every state in the US. Dr. Pretti-Frontczak is a Past President of the Division for Early Childhood, was a professor at Kent State University for 16 years, and has worked as an early childhood consultant and trainer since 1990.

Kristine Slentz, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Special Education at Western Washington University and works as a training and technical assistance consultant for Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT), the Part C program in Washington State. Her particular areas of interest and expertise are assessment and evaluation, early intervention, risk and resiliency, and working within family contexts across cultures. She has been fortunate to combine her love of travel with international training opportunities in Canada, Dubai, Singapore, and Kenya.

Elizabeth Straka, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, provides training and technical assistance to agencies that provide services to young children with disabilities and their families. She also provides training seminars nationally in regard to recommended practice in assessment and intervention with young children and their families, with an emphasis on team collaboration. Dr. Straka continues to practice as a therapist, focusing on the assessment and treatment of developmental disorders in young children.

Misti Waddell, M.S., is a senior research assistant/project coordinator at the Early Intervention Program at the University of Oregon. She has contributed to the development and research of the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System for Infants and Children (AEPS�), Second Edition, since the early 1990s. She has used the AEPS in classroom settings and has coordinated several federally funded, field-initiated research projects and outreach training projects.

Her research products include Project SEAM: Preventing Behavior Disorders and Improving Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities and Infant Mental Health: Improving Mental Health in Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities. Ms. Waddell provides field supervision for early intervention graduate students and has conducted training with early childhood teachers and parents in developmental and social-emotional screening, assessment, and intervention, including AEPS, Ages & Stages Questionnaires�, Third Edition (ASQ-3), and Ages & Stages Questionnaires�: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2™).

AME Group's book, PMP Exam Practice Questions and Solutions, was key in my passing the PMP exam on the first attempt and by a substantial margin! I think this book is 'must have' study material. AME Group's (Aileen's) questions and explanations of Best and Wrong answers accelerated the process of understanding content and the inter-relationships of the project management processes. I also used Rita Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep which had some very helpful information that can't be found in the PMBOK guide. However, I found Aileen's questions and solutions to be more representative of the exam than Rita's and much easier to digest. --R. Trojan

Going through Aileen Ellis' AME Group PMP Exam Prep Class and using her PMP Exam Practice Questions and Solutions book was key in my passing the exam on the first try and receiving my PMP Credential. I have looked at several other PMP Exam Prep books and sets of Exam Prep Questions but none of them held up to AME Group's approach. Aileen's catch phrase ;Why the best answer is best and the wrong answers are wrong; accurately describes how she has carefully engineered a learning system that allows the PMP (or CAPM) candidate to place the myriad facts; Knowledge Areas; Process Groups; Inputs, Tools and Techniques, and Outputs; and the PMI Mindset; into an understandable context that greatly facilitates absorbing the PMBOK and thus being able to pass the exam. And, her questions were much more in line with what I saw in my exam than other sets of questions I have seen. In addition to using AME Group's PMP Exam Practice Questions and Solutions book, those fortunate enough to also attend Aileen's PMP (or CAPM) Prep Classes as I did will also benefit from her ability to relate what's in the PMBOK to actual Project Management - sort of a two for the price of one; benefit that also contributes to the very impressive;Pass Rate; enjoyed by her students. The book also provides hundreds of questions and answers similar to other exam preparation books. This book, unlike many others, explains why incorrect answers are wrong and provides references directing the reader to additional sources if needed or desired. Less than my expectations for taking an expensive test.

In virtually all professional testing I have done in 40 years of engineering, flying, and professional development, when I have paid this much for a book of test questions, I have an expectation of some of these questions showing up on the actual test. The material in the PMP course is extremely detailed. This practice test book test depth was not nearly detailed enough to prepare for the PMP test. I thought I was prepared by understanding these questions. That was not true. I don't like being negative. But I like even less being led to believe that I was preparing correctly for this expensive test.

Not the greatest but useful.

Nothing wrong with this book. However if you want test questions then I would use the website [...] The reason this is a better option is that it simulates the actual question of the test and gives you PDU's to boot. I found this book really did not help me for the test as much as I wanted it too. I would recommend it a tool to help you study but as a test prep tool not so much. Stick with the InSite test banks prior to your test and you will be fine!

Over the past decade a transformation has been underway in the world of wine, as wineries have become just as much places to visit as sites of wine production. In order to showcase their domains and attract and accommodate visitors on winery tours, wineries have engaged renowned architects to extend existing wineries as well as build new ones. This has led to arresting spaces being produced for wine in a whole plethora of styles. Wine by Design highlights some of the most exciting new wineries and spaces for wine, including those by such acclaimed architects as Frank Gehry, Herzog & de Meuron and Santiago Calatrava.

This new edition of Wine by Design adds a further nine wineries to those in the original book, so that it now features a total of almost 40 wineries from around the world. New projects are drawn from Austria, Canada, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the USA and are by such well-known architects as Alvaro Siza and Renzo Piano. The introduction has been revised to cover recent developments in wine tourism, such as winery spas and celebrity wineries, and the expanding market for wine in China. An accessible and engaging text is complemented by stunning photography plans and key information about the grapes, special vintages, winery design, location and opening hours. The book also emphasises how compelling design is making headway in the wine retail and wine bar sectors and in other leisure and hospitality spaces for the appreciation and consumption of wine.

About the Author
Loraine Fowlow is Interim Dean and an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. She is an award-winning academic author, whose writings on the subject of (in)authentic environment have been published internationally. She is also on the editorial board of the University of Calgary Press, and was recently invited to be part of the centennial edition of Canadian ‘Who’s Who’ (University of Toronto Press, 2010). Professor Fowlow is a regular contributor to Canadian Architect magazine.

Sean Stanwick is an associate at Farrow Partnership Architects Inc and a partner at CreativeWorks Consulting in Toronto, Canada. He co-authored the first edition of Wine by Design as well as Design City Toronto, both published by John Wiley & Sons.

A great pairing of Wine & Architecture

I bought this as a Christmas gift for one of my many wine loving friends and just had to get one for myself. It tackles a unique subject - winery architecture - and gives you a good but not too in depth description of the wine making region, the wine facilities, and the wines themselves. It is full of great colour photography, site plans, and a broad selection of wineries around the world. The architecture featured is modern and not what you expect of typical wineries...the Gehry sketches alone are worth the price of the book! Want to impress your friends? Leave this book out on your coffee table. Better yet, pull this book out and enjoy while you sip on a Rioja red.
